Different from indoor stadiums, the lighting design of outdoor stadiums is mainly to meet the needs of large-scale outdoor sports lighting such as football and track and field. To do a good job in stadium lighting design, it is necessary to have sufficient illuminance and uniformity of lighting, non glare lighting, proper shadow effect, and the correctness of the chromaticity parameters of the light source.

 

Stadium lighting requirements

 

The lighting of sports venues is mainly to meet the requirements of athletes, spectators and cameras. For this reason, it is required that the horizontal illuminance, vertical illuminance and the brightness of the camera when taking a panoramic picture must be kept consistent. The illuminance uniformity specifies the ratio of the minimum illuminance to the maximum illuminance on the surface (U1), and the ratio of the minimum illuminance to the average illuminance (U2). Uniformity is used to control the visual condition of the whole site, and U1 is conducive to visual function. U2 is conducive to visual comfort.

Brightness and glare are also important for the visual comfort of athletes and spectators. Part of the light should be directed at the grandstand. The average horizontal illuminance of the seating surface of the auditorium should meet the requirements of 100 lx, and the illuminance of the chairman's desk should be above 200 lx. In general, glare is largely determined by a series of factors, such as the brightness of lighting facilities, the solid angle of lamp arrangement, the luminous area, the angle between the direction of lamps and the normal viewing direction, the relationship between the brightness of lighting facilities and the background brightness when viewing, and the conditions for human eyes to adapt.

Outdoor stadium lighting

The stroboscopic effect has a great influence on TV relay. If the TV picture shakes and flickers, the TV audience will not accept it, and the TV relay economy such as TV advertising and TV relay rights will be greatly affected. Especially in the era of LED lighting, stroboscopic effect is more prominent, which greatly affects the effect of broadcasting, especially for high-definition television broadcasting, slow motion, etc.

In order to reduce the stroboscopic effect, different lamps in the same lighting area can be tapped on the power supply circuit of different phase sequence in the place with three-phase power supply, that is, the three identical points method. When a large number of wide beam lamps are used, the above requirements can be almost naturally met, but when narrow beam lamps are used, they must be projected in a three-phase combination of three phases.

The use of large lamps can reduce the number of projection lamps, but in most cases, from the perspective of uniformity requirements, it is impossible to achieve sufficient uniformity of light irradiation, and when using narrow beams, it is certainly impossible to meet the uniformity requirements. For this reason, it is better to use multiple light distributions together and use lamps with appropriate power.
